Aloha my lovelies!
For JC1, well it's your Oral Presentation period, the last lap of Project Work. Just Ace it people! It's the easiest to ace! Here's my advice to all of you-
1. Don't add too much animation to your slides. makes the judges annoyed. they really dont find it cute. Nor do I. sheesh.
2. Be a freaking confident fella and have a genuine smile! If you don't own a genuine smile, then screw it. just sound confident, but not arrogant[it's a problem for students of 1A05]!
3. Always rehearse with your slides! ALL, I REPEAT, ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL your group members should know which and how many slides each person is taking! Try to divide it equally as much as possible[this is the group leader's responsibility!].
4. Group leader : bloody hell DONT BE BIASED! It's YOUR DUTY to ensure everyone has equal amount of speech/content. As much as you hate your group-mate, be more civilised and matured. You've to act professionally and ensure everyone's got equal opportunity to speak and be judged fairly.
5. As a speaker, have eye contact with all of your judges.. but obviously not at one time cos then you'll be cross eyed!?!?!?! Just have eye contact with one of them once in a while. Also ensure to have eye contact with your audience too. Not just the judges. Cos' you're addressing everyone who's watching you. NOT just the judges.
6. Go to the venue allocated before hand to check how your presentation appears on screen. I think some of the classes' projectors have colour problems so you might want to inform the IT-tech beforehand or adjust your slides' colours accordingly!
7. When you rehearse with your slides, make sure the person clicking the slide for you is synchronising it with your delivery. It REALLY MATTERS!! TRUST MEEEEE! IT DOESSSS!!! It makes a helluva lot difference.
8. If you realise you've made an error in your speech, do not rectify it at that moment. Let it pass. However, if you've made a content error, then god bless you. I suggest you don't let it show. Do not stumble or go nervous after that. Cos' too bad, it's over. You can't do anything about it. Just ensure that you don't make more errors any further! Judges are humans too you know. They understand you are nervous. Which is why your slides need to have the right amount of content and furthermore, it has to be accurate. So that at least you have something to back you up!
9.If you think you made a few errors, DONT HAVE THAT STUPID "SHIT I SCREWED UP" LOOK ON YOUR FACE!!!! Always smile and look sweet! At the same time, remember not to over-do it! This should come naturally. Look like a 17/18 year old matured junior college student. Not a primary school kid!
10. Breatheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee EASYYYY!!! While one is presenting, the rest should not be talking amongst themselves. They should be listening to the presenter or going through their speech in their minds. It is very distracting for the judges and leaves a bad impression. No laughing either. No gossiping too btw. yeah, they don't like that as much as we do.Besides, not exactly the best time to bitch about a person you hate who is in the audience or is in your group.
11. Never condemn your fellowmates! Don't go on about critiquing them while they are presenting. KARMA people! what goes around comes around! You're no better and no less than them. Well even if you are, just shut the hell up. The world really doesn't care about your critism just yet. So save it for yourself.
12. Act sensibly. Behave like a young adult. Think with maturity.
That's all for you all my darlls!
I'm just a phonecall/sms/email/chat on msn, gtalk and yahoo away if you ever need me! (:
Take care,
All the best!
Love,
InsaneIntelligence.(:
