Day of Love,For Love & Beloved.

Countless times, have I encountered men saying "Valentine's Day is highly overrated". or "it's just a hallmark greeting card" or somewhere along those lines.

Well I believe that EITHER these men are single,and yet to fall in love OR too cynical.

And then I argue : I agree that some very cheesy couples have made it look very exaggerated, BUT, at the end of the day, it is a day in honour of St. Valentine' and I believe that there is no better way to celebrate it then to spend the day with your loved ones!

and then THEY argue : but if you want to spend special time with your special someone,then you can do it any other day,why must it necessarily has to be on Valentine's Day?

and then I argue back : might as well you say the same for Thanksgiving,St Pat's Day and Easter Day et cetra!

Seriously, I believe that we must acknowledge the history of how this day came about!

St Valentine was a priest in Rome, in the 3rd Century. He believed in the institution of love and marriage.He conducted marriages and the Emperor then,Claudius, was against this because he felt that his dream of a BIG army would not evolve because many married men wouldn't want to leave their families and sacrifice their lives!

So Claudius prisoned St Valentine for carrying out secret marriage ceremonies,which was against his will(obviously)!

However,many people still visited him and presented him flowers and other tokens of appreciation. One of them was the prison guard's daughter with whom St Valentine eventually fell in love with. The prison guard was aware of this and allowed her to meet him often!

The day that St Valentine was to die, he left her a note thanking her for all the love and care that she gave him!

This note was written on February 14th, 269 A.D! (:

So now all of you lovelies reading this feel enlightened right? haha.

so yeah, I think it's a wonderful day that honours love and marriage! As much as I agree that we should celebrate love everyday, but dedicating a day to Love reminds us the importance of having it in life!

Love is not only for couples but for everyone!
